Palmer working Palmer Murphy

Palmer Murphy's works are owned by public and private collectors in the United States, Europe and Australia. His preferred media comprise sculpture in bronze and similar materials. His body of work also includes portraiture in oil, acrylic, water-color and charcoal.

His sculptures and illustrations portray such well-known sports personalities as Babe Ruth, Lou Gehrig, Mickey Mantle, Stan Musial, Bobby Hull (commissioned by the hockey star), and Tom Seaver. He sculpted, in response to a commission from TV Channel HBO, a bronze statue of "Sugar Ray" Robinson, representing the world's middleweight title which was awarded to the winner of a tournament to unify the title. Recently, he received another commission from the Channel to sculpt a bronze bas-relief plaque to commemorate NYC firemen killed in the 9/11 attack. Corporations such as Anheuser Busch, McDonalds and Danbury Mint have retained him to sculpt special items in limited collector editions for national sale and distribution.

Palmer's work is displayed in several institutions, such as the National Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown and the Babe Ruth Museum in Baltimore (having been personally endorsed by the family).

Palmer was recently the subject of a documentary which was broadcast nationwide on many occasions via sports channel MSG network.

Beyond athletics, he has been retained to portray historical and corporate figures in oil for private collectors here and abroad.

After receiving artistic awards at Saint David's and Loyola Schools in New York City, Palmer attended New York University, the School of Visual Arts, and the Sculpture Center in that city.

Palmer is thirty-three and works out of New York City.
